BREAKING THROUGH THE ‘SELF’DELUDION

(A guide for Buddhist insight meditators)

This gift of Dhamma is organized in order to give the reader or student of Buddhism , or those who are already practising Buddhist insight meditation, a deep intelletual insight (hopefully to be expanded to direct intuitive experience) into fundamental elements on which the Buddha’s teaching (the Dhamma) center and focus. For any correct Buddhist meditation to develop, a good understanding of these basic principles is necessary. The meditation exercise at the end will be a helful guide or meminder for anyone desiring to make a start in Buddhist meditation.

This small book is not however, a complete coverage of the Buddha’s teachings. I ruge the reader to acquire some additional knowledge concerning the noble Eightfold Path, the Dependent Origination, the Five Hinderance etc. This can be obtained from publications of the Buddhist Publication Society, Kandy, Sri Lanka, P. O. Box 61. Please write to them for a complete list of their publications which include all aspects of the Buddha’s life and teachings.

Most of the Buddha’s discourses used in this work are taken from the English translation series of the Pale text Society, London, whom I want to thank for their kind permission to freely use this material.
