FOREWORDS
This booklet “Vietnam Buddhism and Its Activities for Peace” is dedicated to the forthcoming 8th General Conference and the celebration of the ABCP 20th anniversary, scheduled to be held in Ulan Bator from 18 to 23. September, 1990.
The Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace (ABCP) is a Peace movement which strives to realize the fundamentals of the sacred Teachings of Lord Buddha. Its aims and objectives are to disseminate and realize the fundamental Teachings of Lord Buddha on Peace, Happiness and Human dignity. Our Vietnam Buddhist Research Institute fervently dedicates this booklet to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this Peace movement.
The booklet is divided into two parts. The first part, Vietnam Buddhism is the first attempt to write the history of Buddhism in Vietnam from its introduction to its modern time, throughout its long history of more than 18 centuries. The second part of the book is a kind of report of the Peace activities of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, from its foundation in 1982 up to the modern time, where we can see that its long history is a sincere dedication to world Peace and to world brotherhood.
